Talk about out of nowhere! Super-mega-publisher Activision has announced that they’ll be bringing a new first-person shooter game to market that’s based off the AMC TV adaptation of The Walking Dead. This is the second game to be tied to The Walking Dead IP, with developer Telltale already at the helm of the episodic adventure series based on the comics.

In the FPS version of The Walking Dead, you’ll take on the role of crossbow-wielding Daryl Dixon (who is played by Norman Reedus in the TV series). Together with his rather unsavoury brother, Merle, you’ll need to travel through the state of Georgia to get to the safety of Atlanta city. On the way, you’ll be faced by endless zombies who react to sight, sound and smell. You’ll need to scavenge for supplies and deal with other survivors you may come across.

Daryl has become one of the TV series’ more popular characters despite not being an original character from the comic books (he is being written into the comic series as a result). The game will be out in 2013 for PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. A teaser trailer has been released, which you can find after the jump.
