During Nintendo’s New York press event, which kicked off at 16:00 our time today, the hardware manufacturer and publisher revealed that Bayonetta 2 will be an exclusive title for the upcoming Wii U. Nintendo’s new console (which is set to launch in Europe on 30 November, so expect it in South Africa around that time) already has a healthy line-up of titles, but this addition definitely stood out amongst the plethora of games revealed at the event.
The original Bayonetta launched on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in 2010. Developed by Platinum Games and published by Sega, the game went on to receive numerous accolades and sits with a Metacritic score of 90%.
Needless to say, fans of the original game have been dying for a sequel – a sequel that was often teased by creator Hideki Kamiya. Bayonetta 2 will feature many of the members from the original development team, including producer Yusuke Hashimoto. No release date has been provided; reveal trailer after the jump.
