rAge 2012: Megarom’s line-up of mindsplosion

Local distributor Megarom Interactive has secured a world-class selection of up-coming titles to show off at this year’s rAge. Megarom distributes games published by 2K Games, Activision, Blizzard, Codemasters, Namco Bandai, NCsoft, Rockstar, Square Enix and Ubisoft. Needless to say, with a stable of publishers like that there’ll be a ton of awesome software to see and play at rAge 2012.

Assassin’s Creed III – Release date: 31 October 2012 – play it three weeks early at rAge

The next big instalment in Ubisoft’s most successful series is nearly upon us. Set during the American Revolution, you’ll get to take on the role of Connor. Actually, we’re not sure why we’re telling you all of this seeing as you already know as much as possible about this title; you’ve probably been convulsing and frothing at the mouth ever since the game was revealed. Good news is you’ll be able to play the game at rAge. Megarom and the good people from Ubisoft South Africa have secured both single and multiplayer code for the show. There’ll be six person multiplayer matches set up and you’ll get to experience the brand new AnvilNext engine in all of its glory.


Borderlands 2 – Release date: 27 September 2012

Megarom will have eight systems playing two co-operative games of four players each. You’ll be able to try the game out and, if you haven’t already, buy a copy at a special rAge 2012 price. What’s more, Megarom is hosting a Borderlands 2 competition RIGHT NOW; get on over to Facebook and get invovlved. Don’t forget to listen to Claptrap’s special message for all SA gamers.

Call of Duty: Black Ops IIRelease date: 13 November 2012 – see it five weeks early at rAge

You’ll want to keep an eye on the main stage area of the rAge show floor. Throughout the day, Megarom will be showing off some of their titles, and some of those titles include Black Ops II. We’ve gone hands-on with the multiplayer already, and it was more fun that a barrel of napalm-soaked, exploding monkeys. At rAge 2012 you’ll get to see the game in action and see why Treyarch looks set to claim the CoD developer crown once again.

Far Cry 3 – Release Date: 30 November 2012 – play it two months early at rAge

Ubisoft’s Far Cry 3 is looking absolutely brilliant. If you’ve missed the last few Island Survival Guide videos then be sure to catch them here. In less than two weeks’ time, however, you won’t have to rely on online videos, because you will have gone hands-on with the game’s single player and multiplayer modes. Rumour has it that batsh*t insane Vaas might be hovering around the Far Cry 3 area. Don’t say we didn’t warn you.

Hitman: Absolution – Release Date: 20 November 2012 – play it six weeks early at rAge

Excuse us while we try to stifle our excitement for thi- HOLY HELL! How amazing is this game looking? We cannot WAIT to play it, and the good news is we all won’t have to because you’ll be able to give the brand new Contracts Mode a whirl at rAge 2012. Contracts is a new feature that allows you to target any NPC from a single-player mission, and then turn the hit into a contract that gets shared online to challenge other players. The mode was revealed at Gamescom 2012 and is an absolute blast to play. Thanks to this new mode, Hitman: Absolution will be more conducive to multiple playthroughs  than any other Hitman to date.

Just Dance 4 – Release Date: 02 October 2012

For all you exhibitionists with skills in the dancing genre, you’re in for a treat: Megarom and Ubisoft will have a dedicated stage area for you and a partner to get your groove on. For those with two left feet, you’ll be able to see how the game is meant to be played. Don’t forget to bring a camera – you know, for blackmail purposes while your friends are trying to look cool playing the game.

Skylanders Giants – Release Date: 19 October 2012 – play it two weeks early at rAge

Did you know that South Africa is one of the largest territories for the Skylanders franchise? Turns out local gamers can’t get enough of the game, and we totally understand why. If you’re a fan of the series then you’ll be able to get hands-on time with Giants as well as see many of the new toys coming to the game. If you’ve never seen the game’s portal in action, or you’ve never played the game, then we recommend you check it out while at rAge. We’re not ashamed to admit that we have a serious soft spot for this series.

Splinter Cell: Blacklist – Release Date: Autumn 2013 – See it MONTHS early at rAge

See that? This game doesn’t even have a concrete release date, but you’re still going to see it in action on the main stage on the rAge show floor. To make things even better, Megarom and Ubisoft South Africa are flying out one of the game’s developers to take local gamers through an exclusive presentation of Sam Fisher’s next big outing.

Tomb Raider
– Release Date: 08 March 2013 – play it five months early at rAge

The highly anticipated reboot of one of gaming’s most iconic characters. You’ll get to play Tomb Raider a whole five months early at rAge. Somebody get the ladies and gents from Megarom a Bells.

ZombiU – Release Date: 30 November 2012 – play it three weeks early at rAge

There’s little doubt that Ubisoft’s upcoming survival horror is the game that’s going to catch the attention of core gamers when it comes to the Wii U. It’s been the poster child for hardcore gaming’s return to a Nintendo console, and you’ll be able to see and play the game. What’s more, one of the developers will be at rAge taking attendees through live presentations on the show floor stage area.

So there you have it! That’s Megarom’s plan for rAge 2012. The distributor has the largest stand (stand number 80) on the show floor so you won’t need to worry about missing them. See you all in two weeks!
