There are two different categories of competitive play here, which equate to team deathmatch and deathmatch. Matches will be played on Xbox LIVE – except for the finals, which will apparently take place at a secret venue. The “clan-based” TDM sees eight players (4v4) battling it out for domination, with the winning team progressing to the next round and competing again, until only one team remains. Then, solo players compete in the “lone wolf” tournament, which is straight-up deathmatch until one player stands victorious. The winning team and solo player are the ones who’ll then be off to Cologne next year.

Halo 4 – South African Tournament!

Halo 4 is due for release on 6 November 2012, marking the return of one of the most iconic super soldiers ever – Master Chief! To mark this occasion, Xbox South Africa has embarked on one of their biggest online projects ever! We are now proud to announce that we will be hosting the largest Halo Tournament ever seen on South African soil!

The tournament will feature Clan-based play where a total of eight players (four per side) will battle it out in a series of death match elimination rounds. The tournament will cater for single-player death matches too, so if you prefer to go it alone you will not be left in the dark. In Lone Wolf, it is you and seven other Spartans fighting for the top four positions in each round.

The matches will take place on Microsoft’s Xbox LIVE service, with the finals taking place at a secret venue. Each round will be strictly monitored by a Microsoft representative, acting as a ‘referee’.

Finish the fight by making it to the final stages in order to win the experience of a lifetime. Xbox South Africa will be sending the entire winning Clan team and Lone Wolf winner on an all-expenses-paid trip to Cologne, Germany for the 2013 edition of Gamescom!

Interested gamers need to register on before 6 November 2012.

So get your thumbs and aim in check, it’s time to bring the noise, Spartans!

*EXTRA – We will allow users to enter the tournament at our Rage Stand from 5 to 7 October 2012
