Two days ago, Bethesda released patch 1.8 for the PC version of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. It didn’t do much other than fix a handful of bugs and improve general stability. It did, however, claim to fix an “issue related to duplicate NPCs”, which is great news considering my 200+ hours save now has about five Louis LeTrushs mincing about.
The patch made no obvious mention of upcoming DLC, but that never stops PC gamers prone to digging through code. Some eager fans did just that, and they managed to dig up some rather telling pieces of information.
A number of references to possible future DLC have been spotted inside the patch code. From the sounds of things, the next chunk of add-on content could be returning to an area called Solstheim, which is a Nord colony that made an appearance in The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind. Morrowind’s second expansion, Bloodmoon, first introduced Solstheim.
Alongside the mention of Solstheim are numerous enemy types (such as Rieklings, Scribs and Netchs) and locations (like Castle Karstaag, Raven Rock and Miraak Temple). New armour references were also discovered for Bonemold, Chitin, Nordic and Stalhrim.
If that’s not enough to whet your appetite then know that the code digging also found references to riding dragons. Yes please!
