In a way, a transition from a reliance on Intel processors to something ARM-based would make a lot of sense for Apple. A recent report by Gartner suggests that this is the direction the company would take and for once I agree with something analysts say – its possible. Considering that OS X and iOS are very closely related and the fact that Apple could design faster and potentially more efficient processors is certainly something the company would love – it gives them more control and more leeway in how things are done. Apple’s A-series chips are currently designed in-house and manufactured by Samsung in their fabrication labs.
