Back in August, during their Gamescom press event, Capcom revealed that Dante’s brother Vergil would be making an appearance in Ninja Theory’s reimagined DmC: Devil May Cry. At the time, however, the game’s lead producer Alex Jones said that Vergil wouldn’t be a playable character. Turns out that Jones was either lying or Ninja Theory changed their minds. Either way, we’re getting Vergil as a playable character.

Throughout DmC: Devil May Cry, Vergil acts as the leader of The Order – a group dedicated to fighting the demons’ influence on Limbo City. When we take control of him, however, it’ll be in a separate set of missions entitled “Vergil’s Downfall”, and yes, this is going to be DLC.

Don’t act surprised about DLC being announced before the game is even out; this is Capcom we’re talking about. The content will be out soon after the game has released in early March 2013, but Capcom has yet to provide a concrete release date for “Vergil’s Downfall”. The publisher has confirmed that the DLC will be free for those who pre-order in North America, but an EU/local equivalent (while likely) has not been confirmed. If not, the DLC will cost 720 MS Points or $9.99 on PlayStation 3. Hit the jump to see Vergil in action in the reveal trailer.
