Internet spies have uncovered a bevy of domain name registrations all of which contain the name “Arkham” in them. The registrations were done through MarkMonitor on 10 January 2013. While MarkMonitor does hide the identity of its clients, website Fusible has pointed out that Warner Bros. is one of MarkMonitor’s clients. Consequently, it’s a safe bet that these domain registrations belong to Warner Bros.
Another thing to bear in mind: this is Warner Bros. in general that is registering these domains, and not the video game offshoot Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. While all legal elements probably run through Warner Bros. in general (and not its offshoot entities), these registrations might not be for a new Batman game, but rather a film based on Rocksteady Studio’s series. Rumours of an Arkham Asylum film began cropping up online last year, but there’s been no further speculation since.
There are quite a few names that could readily fit with a third game in Rocksteady’s series. Similarly, there’s ample room for film titles based on those games. A third option could be that Warner Bros. is simply covering their bases and buying up as many possibilities as they can in order to protect their brand. Hit the jump for the full list.
