When this current generation of consoles finally moves on, and we begin getting nostalgic and start talking about our favourite titles of the past eight years or so, I will gaze longingly at MercurySteam’s Castlevania: Lords of Shadow.

The action adventure game was utterly stunning in many ways: combat was slick with ample special moves and combos to unlock; the storyline and characters were genuinely interesting; it was lengthy but never felt monotonous thanks to the metric ton of incredible locations and set pieces; the musical score (that score!) still gives me goosebumps; and the game had more atmosphere than most games in the same genre. Honestly, I fell in love with this game and it’ll make my Top 10 list for this current console generation, I have no doubt.

So then this is potentially really great news: a listing for the game has appeared on Steam, which means Lords of Shadow will probably be making the jump to PC. This is the same sort of listing that pre-empted the arrival of the once Xbox 360 exclusive Alan Wake series on PC as well.

Interestingly, the Steam listing labels the game as Castlevania: Lords of Shadow Early Access Comp, which seems to suggest that this could be a free version of the game that will come bundled with the upcoming sequel Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2. It’s already been confirmed that the sequel will be heading to PC despite the fact that the original was console only.

Whether it’s a free bundle or a paid for title doesn’t change the fact that PC gamers are in for an incredible experience.
