XCOM: Enemy Unknown heading to iPhone and iPad

Well now, this is a surprise. 2K Games and developer Firaxis Games have been quietly porting last year’s excellent XCOM: Enemy Unknown to iOS devices. The best part is that the entire game is there: all of the turn-based tactical missions, the squad development, base management, tech research, all of it! All there!

At present there’s no release date, but the game’s lead designer, Jake Solomon, has said that Firaxis will have an announcement in the coming months. Considering it’s the full game, it’ll be interesting to see what price point they peg this with.

If you want to see how far along the port is, then hit the jump for a brief presentation by Solomon. The game’s running already and everything you see is being played on an iPad – you know, just in case you didn’t notice the very obvious iPad boarder around the screen.
