This year’s instalment in the Assassin’s Creed franchise stars a new pirate assassin in an open-world archipelago. There will be ships, naval battles, treasure, sharks and rum. Up until this point you’ve just had to take the word of those who have seen the game, but those people are video game journalists, and everyone knows video game journalists are corrupt scum out to further their own nefarious plans to get free games and increase the click-through rate on their websites.

Good thing then that Ubisoft has released this trailer to show you all the things you’ve read about. Except for maybe that rum bit; I can’t see any rum in this trailer. Why is the rum gone?

Ignoring the fact that the trailer’s lack of rum has validated my “corrupt scum” status, the trailer is well worth checking out if you’re a fan of the series. Even if you’ve missed the last couple of entries in the franchise, the good news is that this is the start of a new story arc so no prior game knowledge will be needed. That and, you know, pirates and stuff.

You can read a bit more about the game right over here. Alternatively, look out for the April edition of NAG Magazine, which will have a full preview of the game.
