Poker Night 2 brings Claptrap and GLaDOS together

Just over two years ago, Telltale Games released an odd little game called Poker Night at the Inventory. It was the most unlikely of setups: you get to play poker with a bunch of gaming characters from vastly different game franchises. The first game pitted you against Strongbad, Max (from Sam & Max), The Heavy (from Team Fortress 2) and Tycho (from Penny Arcade). It was exactly what it sounded like: you playing poker and getting to listen to the banter between an eclectic cast of characters. It was also hilarious.

Telltale has now announced an “unnecessary sequel” to the first game; it’s simply called Poker Night 2. This time you’re playing Texas Hold ‘Em with Ash Williams (Evil Dead and Army of Darkness), Sam (Sam & Max), Claptrap (Borderlands) and Brock Samson (The Venture Bros cartoon). Oh yes, and GLaDOS is dealing, which means the unholy union of gaming’s two most beloved robots is now a reality. And the bar you’re playing in? It belongs to Mad Moxxi. I think I just eeped a little.

The game is heading to PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, with platform specific prizes to unlock for winning hands. Think things like Borderlands 2 skins (including a Portal turret skin for Zer0!), Xbox 360 Avatar items, Team Fortress 2 items for PC and dynamic themes for PlayStation 3. Trailer after the jump.

The downside to all this awesome? Bruce Campbell isn’t voicing Ash Williams. That’s like including Homer Simpson without Dan Castellaneta.
