We’re all expecting the PlayStation 4 to be released in time for Christmas this year, but Sony has not actually provided any solid release dates. According to a recent interview with Edge, the company already has a release date in mind, but it’s obviously not ready to share it just yet.

Sony’s Worldwide Studios vice president Michael Denny told Edge “we know our launch date, and we think it’s very important that gamers receive that new console experience.”

Sony has committed to stating that the PlayStation 4 will be released in at least one territory in “Holiday 2013.” According to a previous interview with Videogamer, Sony Computer Entertainment UK MD Fergal Gara said that Sony had not committed to a release date because it was still “working through all sorts of production schedules.”
