PopCap yesterday announced that the sequel to one of its most popular titles of all time, Plants vs. Zombies, will be released later than previously intended. Plants vs. Zombies 2 will now be available “later in the summer”. The iOS version of the game was previously planned to launch on 18 July, with other platform releases to follow.
PopCap did not provide a reason for the delay, but the developer did apologise: “We’re sorry for the delay, but want to make sure the game lives up to fans’ expectations.”
“Stay tuned for more details.”
If you’re wondering what PopCap has planned for the sequel, then you may be pleased to learn that it will feature pirates, ancient Egypt, and the Wild West. The art style has also been revamped, and we can expect “all-new touch power-ups,” that will allow players to jab zombies with their fingers to kill them directly. If you missed the official reveal trailer you can find it after the jump.
