A while back, publisher Square Enix revealed that they were pretty bummed out by how the latest Tomb Raider game had underperformed in sales figures. For the record, Tomb Raider sold 3.4 million copies within the first month of its release, so clearly Square had some lofty figures in mind.
Consequently, there hasn’t been much talk of a sequel – until now. Granted, the source of this first talk of a sequel isn’t exactly super-official, but it’s from somebody who is nonetheless involved in the future of Lara Croft.
Gail Simone is a writing a Lara Croft comic book that supposedly kicks off a few weeks after the end of the recent reboot. Simone adds, “this is all in continuity, it will be Tomb Raider canon, and lead DIRECTLY into the sequel. This is what got me excited; we get to be part of Lara Croft history.” Not exactly from the lips of Square Enix or Crystal Dynamics, but it’s the closest thing we’ve had to a confirmation of a sequel.
