Giblets: GTA V reportedly cost R2.6 billion to develop

According to a report by The Scotsman newspaper, Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto V has cost £170 million in development and marketing. If this is true (and note that the actual development costs of games is a very secretive affair) then this would make GTA V the most expensive video game on the planet – an accolade previously held by MMORPG Star Wars: The Old Republic, which cost EA $200 million. Furthermore, if the figure is true, then GTA V will be the second most expensive entertainment project ever created after the film Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End, which cost $300 million.
