Alongside the new generation of consoles, Ubisoft was planning to release their ambitious new IP Watch_Dogs. The game has been a poster child for next-gen, and what we’ve seen of it already has been enough to convince us that Ubisoft’s team has something really special planned. Too bad they’ve just announced a sizable delay.
Originally pegged to release on 22 November for us here in South Africa, the game has been pushed back “until spring 2014”, which translates to our autumn. Therefore we can expect to see Watch_Dogs sometime between March and the end of May 2014.
In an official statement released by Ubisoft, the team says that Watch_Dogs has always been intended “to deliver something that embodies what we wanted to see in the next-generation of gaming”. To that extend they “made the tough decision to delay the release”. They also used the oft-repeated lines when it comes to delayed games: “we will not compromise on quality” and “take the extra time to polish and fine tune each detail”. It’s probably an exceptionally wise move; a little extra breathing room between this and GTA V is a good thing.
