Hands up all of you who allowed yourselves to get excited for Aliens: Colonial Marines. Hands-up those of you who wept bitter, acidic tears when Gearbox birthed the abomination that it did. Know that you are not alone, and that there may be good news on the horizon.
Website Siliconera has uncovered a new trademark filing on behalf of Twentieth Century Fox for something called Alien: Isolation. The filing is for “computer game and video game software, downloadable mobile software, and decorative magnets”. Unless we’re about to get a whole collection of Facehugger magnets to hold tatty scraps of paper to our fridges, it looks like we’re getting another Aliens game.
There’s no indication who might be developing this one or what genre of game it might be, but here’s hoping it stays very, very far away from Gearbox. Any preferences, Aliens fans? Personally, I think a turn-based strategy ala the recent XCOM: Enemy Unknown could be fantastic; Colonial Marines kind of expunged my desire for another Alien FPS.
