Hold on to your butts kids: the rumour mill is spitting out some truly exiting stuff today concerning Call of Duty: Ghosts, and all signs point to these particular rumours being right on the money. Pictures of a new mode called “Extinction” have been leaked, and they point to a very alien-filled future for Ghosts.
From looking at some of the leaked screenshots (which you can see in the gallery at the bottom of this post), it’s easy to assume that this “Extinction” mode will be to Ghosts what the zombies mode was to World at War and to both Black Ops instalments. It also kind of resembles Horde mode from Gears of War in a few ways. This new mode will apparently only be playable after completing the first five single-player missions, which is a good thing, since many players often skip the story mode completely (shame on you). The user who took the screenshots reportedly has an early copy of the game, and if the shots are real, this looks like a mode we seriously want to play.
What gives these rumours more than a little credibility is the short teaser video posted on Call of Duty‘s Instagram, that shows the usual Ghosts emblem thingy — you know that skull-mask thing – being transformed into a distinctly non-human face (if you can call it a face). But that’s not all; in the background you can make out some very strange grunts, gurgles, and growls, which we as humans seem to think is the telltale sound of an impending alien attack.
Call of Duty: Ghosts will be in stores for PS3, Xbox 360, PC and Wii U on the 5th of November.
