The first part of the upcoming Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain will be infiltrating our gaming libraries in early 2014.  This entry is intended by Hideo Kojima to introduce players to the series’ new game mechanics.

Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes

“There will be a significant difference in what Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain brings to the series,” explains Kojima. “So we want to ease players into the new open world environment and its potential.  As such, Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes has been designed to introduce key elements, allowing them to fully benefit from all that the new game will offer”.

What this basically means is that Ground Zeroes will be a prequel to Phantom Pain, as well as connecting the story from previous entries to the new game.

Both PS4 and Xbox One versions of the game will be available as digital downloads at around R300, while current-gen (PS3, Xbox 360) will sell at roughly R300 and R200 for boxed and digital respectively.

There’s still no word regarding the release date of Phantom Pain, and you may remember Kojima recently promising a better Phantom Pain after Ground Zeroes. Lets hope we aren’t kept waiting.
