UPDATE: PlayStation gamers get exclusive MGS V content

Hideo Kajima’s Metal Gear Solid series has been synonymous with the PlayStation brand for many, many years now. While the Metal Gear Solid iteration debuted on Sony’s original PlayStation in 1998, the series actually goes back further than that to 1987 with Metal Gear for the MSX2 and NES systems. The series hasn’t ever been exclusive to one platform, but the majority of the games can be found on Sony hardware.

With this in mind, Konami has announced that there will be Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes content exclusive to the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 versions of the game. The extra content is called the “MGS 1 Deja-Vu” mission, and it’s basically a set of missions that will be chock-full of Metal Gear Solid nostalgia.

According to Konami’s official press release, you’ll be able to “recreate the iconic moments” from the original game. What’s more, “a flashback system reproduces the original graphical style of the original PSOne game – complete with greatly reduced ‘vintage’ polygon count.” If certain conditions are fulfilled you’ll unlock a “classic Solid Snake” outfit for use in the rest of the open-world Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes.

The game is out some time during our autumn 2014 here in South Africa. It’s heading to PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One. Assuming they’ve unlocked the YouTube video, you can check out more on this exclusive content by heading over here.

UPDATE: We’ve embedded the “Deja-Vu” trailer below now that it’s live on YouTube.
