Rumour: Halo 2 Anniversary Edition hitting 2014, Halo 5 in 2015

According to website GameZone, the voice actor who plays Master Chief in the Halo series, Steve Downes, has revealed that an anniversary edition for Halo 2 will be hitting this year. 2014 marks the tenth anniversary of the release of 2004 hit Halo 2.

Microsoft released an anniversary edition of the original Halo: Combat Evolved in November of 2011. It featured updated graphics and players could swap between these and the original graphics at any time. It’s uncertain whether this rumoured Halo 2 anniversary release will offer the same feature.

In addition to perhaps mistakenly unveiling a Halo 2 anniversary edition, Downes revealed that Halo 5 won’t be released this year. He said that 2014’s Halo release will be this Halo 2 anniversary edition and that we’ll have to wait until 2015 for Halo 5 on Xbox One. Microsoft has since confirmed that there will be a Halo release in 2014, but declined to comment on whether that would be Halo 5 or a Halo 2 anniversary edition.
