SEGA has announced that Relic Entertainment will be expanding upon their excellent Company of Heroes franchise with a new multiplayer-only standalone release. The game contains both the US Forces and the German Oberkommando West as playable factions which have new units, models, animations and abilities. While the entire game will be sold at $19.99, each of the two individual armies will be available as a standalone purchase for $12.99 via digital download.

Western Front Armies also comes with a total of eight seasonal multiplayer maps and aims to provide for more intricate aircraft-based combat. In particular, Relic Entertainment hopes to make anti-aircraft units more useful, thereby adding “an element of loitering and map control to the experience.”

New players can also access 23 existing Company of Heroes 2 maps in auto-match, and play against all other existing factions. As such, the Western Front Armies standalone package presents the ideal opportunity for newcomers to enter into the franchise and gain access to the vibrant Company of Heroes 2 community.
