Seems like today’s a day of nostalgic resurrections. We had Miklós reporting on the rebirth of Sierra of yore; and now RPG and war gaming enthusiasts can get excited with the recently announced formation of Tactical Simulations Interactive (TSI).

According to a press release published on Gamasutra, TSI is headed by President David Klein and made up of Strategic Simulations, Inc (SSI) veterans Paul Murray and David Shelly, both who served under a rather staggering number of roles during their stint with the company. SSI was famous for their war games and RPGs based on the Advanced Dungeons & Dragons licence; notably well-known Gold Box titles like fan favourite Pool of Radiance and Eye of the Beholder.

Shelley (who was an associate producer on one of my favourite games, Dark Sun: Shattered Lands.) takes on the role of producer and lead designer; Murray fulfills the technical designer position.

While SSI may be a little too archaic to hold a place in many of our younger readers’ hearts, their work was pivotal in laying the groundwork for the robust RPGs of the late nineties and early 2000s by the likes of BioWare and Troika Games, so it will be interesting to see what TSI has in store for us. You can check their (currently sparse) website here; we’ll have all the details once more info becomes available.
