At rAge 2014, Megarom will be using stands 42 and 75 to showcase most of the games we’re currently salivating over. Hit the jump to see what’s worth standing in line for.
First and foremost, Far Cry 4 will be playable. This elephant-riding, base-jumping open-world shooter is an intensely bright star on the gaming horizon, and I expect the lines for this game to be insane.
Staying with Ubisoft, The Crew will be returning to rAge for another lap. This should be a great time to test out the game before its November 11 release.
Next up are the upcoming iterations of two yearly franchises, National Basketball Association 2015 and World Wrestling Entertainment 2015. Sorry about the long sentence, excessive acronyms make me feel unclean…
That aside, this will be WWE’s current-gen debut, and it’s much-touted rivalries system is sure to excite wrestling fans. As for NBA 2K15, well… I know nothing about basketball beyond watching Space Jam a while back. If you like basketball, you’ll like this.
Also on their stand will be Skylanders Trap Team and the ever-newsworthy Destiny. I know it’s weird seeing these two games spoken about in the same paragraph, but there isn’t really much of a sales pitch to run with here. Destiny has approximately sold enough copies to physically build a house, and Skylanders is approaching Pokémon–esque amounts of characters. Basically, both have been around for long enough to know about, and here’s a great chance to take them for a spin and see how they feel.
So the above games are all pretty exciting. But the Megarom game I’m most looking forward to is Assassin’s Creed Rogue. I like that the game is branching into a new path for the series, and the design of our character looks to be the most badass ever. Also, I respect new games that are made especially for the doddering, old, decrepit PS3 and Xbox 360. It’s good to see non-upgraders are being looked after.
Unfortunately, Assassin’s Creed Unity will not be playable at rAge. New gameplay of Le Fancypants will be shown, but only behind closed doors to the media. The Division is getting the same treatment, but there is no word on The Multiplication, The Addition or The Subtraction.
Also not playable will be Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel. This sucks, because Borderlands 2 was huge at rAge 2012, and the badge-collecting scene for that got intense. Receiving a similar treatment of “you can look but not touch” are Civilization: Beyond Earth and the highly anticipated The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. We at fortress NAG have a copy of the main stage demo roster, but Megarom has confirmed that they would, er, confirm the times of the stage demos.
So there you have it! Megarom is dropping the hammer and bringing the thunder this year with a strong lineup of guaranteed blockbusters. Besides the games you can also bet on giveaways and free stuff, as well as screaming troops of L…
Oh wait, I forgot about Evolve! Don’t worry, that’ll be there too. But the news about it deserves its own article and comes bundled with a neat little NAG Podcast announcement.
