GOG wants to test out the multiplayer component of their upcoming DRM-free gaming platform, and they’re giving away a free copy of Aliens Versus Predator 2000 for the next 48 hours to anyone who signs up for the beta test of GOG Galaxy.
As you might recall, GOG Galaxy is GOG’s attempt at creating a robust platform that will allow customers to benefit from the advantages of online clients – such as automatic updating, in-client messaging and integrated multiplayer – while still allowing for DRM-free releases. Aptly timed given the release of Alien: Isolation, Aliens Versus Predator Classic 2000 is based on the original Alien Versus Predator Gold Edition but updated with a couple of new features, such as Xbox 360 controller support.
AvP allowed you to play an Alien, a Predator or a classic Marine in both single and multiplayer modes, and it was definitely one of the more interesting deathmatch experiences you could have back in the early halcyon days of the 21st century.
You can visit the giveaway page here to put your name down. I’m more interested to see the new client, but a free game never goes amiss.
