Bandai Namco and From Software have just announced that Dark Souls II is heading to current-gen platforms. The new release has been dubbed Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin and will feature updated graphics, greater multiplayer numbers, better matchmaking and all three pieces of downloadable content. There will also be new enemies, expanded lore and a new NPC to find.
This updated version will also be heading to PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, albeit without the beefed-up graphics (update: and without increased multiplayer numbers). For those who already own the game on last-gen systems, all the updates and added features will be provided via a free content patch. There is no word from Bandai Namco regarding the ability to transport your saved game from a last-gen console to a current-gen version of the game.
Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin will hit PC, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One in April 2015. You can check out the reveal trailer after the jump.
