Yes, yes, crowd-funding juggernaut Star Citizen has hit yet another million dollar milestone. Whatever! There are more pressing matters at hand here.
Space pets. Cats, dogs, and likely more exotic things that have tentacles and barf slime or something. That is the plan for the inevitable $64 million dollar stretch goal. And really, should we be calling these “stretch goals” any longer? They’re more like “totally guaranteed goals”.
Communicating via a recent Letter from the Chairman (I really love how dorky the whole fictional space company role-play has become in Star Citizen), Chris Roberts provided some more information on the pet plans for $64 million.
“We have repair bots, we have fish… but we haven’t implemented a traditional pet system in Star Citizen yet. At $64 million, that changes. From Jones the Cat in Alien to the Battlestar Galactica’s Daggit, pets have a place onboard starships… and we want to give you that option in Star Citizen. Expect traditional terrestrial options, plus anything exotic we can dream up in the Star Citizen universe!”
Be sure to head back next week when the game inevitably reaches that $64 million goal. I think I’ll call my space cat “Brannigan”.
