Gearbox wants to make Borderlands 3, asks fans to help develop it

Our favourite quirky cel-shaded FPS/RPG hybrid is set to become a trilogy (not counting the recent midquel, Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel), according to Gearbox Software CEO Randy Pitchford.

Speaking at the recent PAX South event in San Antonio, Texas, Pitchford clarified that work on a third title has not yet begun, but that they’re keen on hiring developers and fans to make the project a reality. “If you are in the industry and you think you can help us, we want you to help us. We want to get started on a new Borderlands game,” Pitchford said. He then took to Twitter to begin the recruitment process.

This dovetails into recent announcements of all manner of Borderlands-related goodness, including the next-gen console debut that is Borderlands: The Handsome Collection and a third DLC pack for The Pre-Sequel, with a future fourth pack hinted at as well. If you’ve not yet delved into the franchise, now might be a good time to start.
