Five Nights at Freddy’s set to become a trilogy

Have you had your fill of evil animatronic animals eating your face off in the middle of the night? If not, you just might be delighted to know that Five Nights at Freddy’s – last year’s surprise indie horror hit which spawned a remarkably hastily-developed sequel – is getting a third iteration.

Set thirty years after the second game, the titular Freddy Fazbear’s pizzeria and the disturbing events surrounding it have become an urban legend. Nonetheless, greedy corporate types are seeking to cash in on the rumours and decide to open up a Freddy-themed horror attraction, complete with authentic animatronics.

Folks who’ve played it know it well for its jump scares and uncanny knack for breeding tension and paranoia. Everybody else can’t quite figure out how robots in animal suits can be scary. Whatever your stand, I think we can all agree that the teaser trailer is slightly… unsettling.

The game is currently on Steam Greenlight and you can keep up with proceedings here. Considering the popularity of the first two games, it should have no problems getting approved. Get ready for more scares and a flood of “let’s plays” with people screaming.
