London will be getting its first stadium devoted to eSports

As another testament to the growing mainstream popularity of video games, the UK will soon be getting its first stadium devoted entirely to eSports. Opening in March, the Vue Fulham Broadway multiplex in London will host 500 spectators and is set to feature 30 events leading up all the way to September. The games themselves will include Hearthstone and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, among others. A prize pool of 500,000 USD has already been set aside for the year (the equivalent of nearly six million rand).

There’s no word yet if any other cities in the UK will feature similar stadiums, or if it’ll spread to the US and other countries. Let’s cross our fingers.
