Although no release date was officially set for Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, the game was anticipated for the end of 2015. Sadly, this will not be the case as Naughty Dog directors Neil Druckmann and Bruce Straley have announced over on the PlayStation blog that the next chapter in Nathan Drake’s adventures will only be made available next year. The developers have explained that they need more time to work on the PlayStation 4 exclusive in order for the game to meet the team’s standards and that “the game is much more ambitious than [they] originally envisioned.”
The directors highlighted the fact that Uncharted has become a massively important property to Naughty Dog and that they want to do the series justice by giving themselves more than enough time to properly complete the game.
“After spending so many years with Nathan Drake, he means a lot to the team, and telling the climactic chapter of his adventures is a task we don’t take lightly – this game deserves every bit of the attention to detail, precise pacing, and nuanced storytelling Naughty Dog is known for. So we’ve made the difficult choice of pushing the game’s release date. Giving us a few extra months will make certain that Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End not only meets the team’s high standards but the high standards that gamers have come to expect from a Naughty Dog title.”
Needless to say fans of the series will be disappointed with the long added wait for the game, but hopefully the extra time will allow Naughty Dog to take us on yet another thrilling, emotional ride with Mr Drake.
