Patrice Désilets and his tiny indie team Panache Digital Games, have revealed their upcoming game. It’s called Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey. Just so you know, we used the word “revealed” very loosely a few sentences back: there’s not much to go on at this point.
Speaking to an audience at the Reboot Develop conference in Croatia, Désilets showed a brief teaser trailer for the game (after the jump) which deliberately highlighted a number of events and activities players experienced during earlier Assassin’s Creed titles. Clearly Désilets still has a fondness for the series he created for Ubisoft. And indeed, this Ancestors sounds like it could hold a few similarities with Assassin’s Creed.
The game is described as “a third person action-adventure survival episodic game”. It’s also billed as being “triple-A” in style. “Through each episodes, [sic] we want the player to relive the greatest moments of mankind with a documentary twist,” the website reads. “Our civilisation is one idea away from extinction… or evolution.”
Very little else is known so far, but Désilets is promising to reveal more as the year progresses. There are no platforms or a release date confirmed as yet.
A few years ago, Désilets and Ubisoft parted company on very bad terms. Things got very messy and the result is that both sides are still embroiled in legal battles.
