I’ve got a soft spot for Skullgirls. It’s a gorgeously animated 2D fighter melding art deco with Darkstalker’s pop-horror DNA to create a great technical fighter that unfortunately has been largely overlooked by the community, in part due to legal rassling when it was originally released.
Now Autumn Games have detailed some of the new additions to their PS4 and Vita version, Skullgirls 2nd Encore, in a new blog post. Based on fan feedback, the story will now be fully voiced by what they describe as, “some of anime’s best and brightest”. In addition, the new version will have a Challenge mode that will introduce unique combat scenarios and an expanded tutorial mode which was lauded at the time of release as one of the best in-game fighting genre primers to date.
Unfortunately, these enhancements will be exclusive to the PS4 and Vita version, although Autumn Games has stated that they’re considering bringing it to the PC version as DLC.
