Our friends over at IGN have bagged footage of playable female protagonist Ciri. The footage shows off about two minutes of gameplay as Ciri takes on a pack of wolves and makes liberal use of a blink-like skill that allows her to instantly zip between targets.
Ciri is an integral part to the story of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. She is Geralt’s apprentice and is described by CD Projekt as a “living weapon”. As such she is pursued by both the Wild Hunt and the Nilfgaard Empire. It’s up to Geralt to find her before anyone else does.
“Ciri is playable only during certain moments in the game,” CD Projekt’s Robert Malinowski confirmed late last year. “We introduce Ciri as supportive narrative tool and not because of gameplay mechanics. The Witcher was always about Geralt and that has not changed, but that handful of moments when you play as Ciri provide us with glimpses of how the story feels from the other side.”
