Computex 2015: Synaptics wants to change how the spacebar key works

Synaptics SmartBar Capacitive Spacebar

At Computex 2015, peripherals and touch device manufacturer Synaptics showcased a new proof-of-concept prototype, the Smartbar at the show, which is a regular keyboard with a new spacebar design that integrates touch controls. The idea is that it becomes more of a macro-key than just a spacebar, allowing one to use the touch controls to adjust the fire rate, switch weapons and do all sorts of other things like volume control. The Smartbar will come with customisable controls and software that allows you to change its behavior. The Smartbar is already available to notebook OEMs and keyboard vendors, but no launch date has been set as yet.
