This just keeps getting nastier and nastier. Publisher Konami and legendary game designer Hideo Kojima are not on speaking terms any longer. Over the last few months, Kojima and his development team, Kojima Productions, have become more and more estranged from the game they’re developing. Konami tried to downplay things, but all links between Kojima Productions and Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain have pretty much been severed.
The final indication that there was ever any input by Hideo Kojima or his development team, has now been removed, as Konami has updated the game’s box art.
The new box art, which was picked up by NeoGAF, no longer features the Kojima Productions logo. Konami has also removed “A Hideo Kojima Game” that originally appeared above the game’s title.
Things sure have gotten messy between Kojima and Konami, resulting in other disappointments like the cancellation of Silent Hills. Don’t forget that Konami recently announced that they’re focusing on mobile games from now on, so it’s clear that there’s a massive shake-up happening at present.
