We get it: you have a major sad because Silent Hills is dead. You got sadder because the P.T. demo got yanked from the PlayStation Store as well. Then you got even more depressed because Kojima and Konami aren’t really talking to each other anymore. Gosh, it’s all rather awful, isn’t it?
But fret not, horror fans, because there might be some light at the end of this ghost-riddled horror corridor: Hideo Kojima and director Guillermo del Toro are still super-best-friends! Their super-best-friends status means that they’re still going to be working together on something.
That something definitely won’t be Silent Hills (or Silent Anything for that matter), but it’ll still be a collaboration between the two creatives so that’s enough to get excited as far as we’re concerned. Most of what made Silent Hills so appealing to begin with was the notion of Kojima and del Toro partnering.
Speaking to IGN, del Toro said: “I love working with Kojima-san. We are still in touch. We are still friends and working into doing something together, but that’s not going to be [Silent Hills].”
What it is and when it’ll be a thing are still two questions that will likely remain unanswered for a very long time. In other words: stifle your hype for now, but know that these two have plans for us and our consoles sometime in the future.
