Tower 57 is probably what BioShock would look like as a twin-stick shooter

Lordie, that’s some gorgeous pixel art, innit? It’s from the upcoming Tower 57, a twin-stick shooter described by its creators as “the love child of Alien Breed and The Chaos Engine” and featuring some serious steampunk and art deco sensibilities.

Set in a dystopian future where humanity lives in mega-towers, you take control of a number of commandos laying siege to a rival group’s tower. The BioShock influence seems pretty undeniable, from the overall aesthetic to vending machines where one may purchase additional weapons and upgrades. It’s like Rapture sans the water.

A particularly interesting aspect is that it’s been designed from the ground up with co-op in mind. Players will be able to tackle the tower with a mate and even combine their weapons. Almost all the scenery will be destructible and decisions will have lasting effects late into the game.

It recently had a successful Kickstarter campaign and has since been greenlit on Steam. Check out the trailer below.
