Wait, did Naughty Dog just let slip about The Last of Us 2 during a live stream?

We’re pretty sure there’s some rolled-up newspaper waiting back at Naughty Dog HQ that’ll be used to whack writer Josh Scherr on the nose. During a livestream of Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection, Scherr stumbled over his words and basically confirmed The Last of Us 2.

While introducing the roles of his fellow livestreamers, Scherr introduced Eric Baldwin, who did “all the facial animation in the Uncharted games and the first The Last of Us– uhhhh, did I say the first The Last of Us? The first Last of Us... The Last of Us… The first Last of Us.”

Awkward. But also hilarious as Baldwin, who obviously realised the error and its magnitude, begins laughing. Meanwhile, fellow Naughty Dog member Eric Monacelli (community strategist) tries valiantly to salvage the slip up by assuming Scherr was talking about the Left Behind DLC, and not The Last of Us 2. But by that stage everyone watching the clip was already shouting, “holy crap they basically just confirmed it!” so no amount of redirecting was going to help.

See for yourself below.

This isn’t the first time that The Last of Us 2 has been rumoured or let slip. Nathan Drake voice actor Nolan North said that he knew Naughty Dog was working on a sequel. This statement was later down-played by voice actor Troy Baker, who voices Joel in The Last of Us.

Then there’s the fact that Sony and Naughty Dog have already registered domains for The Last of Us 2 and The Last of Us 3.
