Deus Ex’s controversial pre-order system shut down

Deus Ex Mankind Divided

Square Enix and Eidos Montreal recently made big, scary waves with their announcement of the Deus Ex: Mankind Divided “Augment Your Pre-Order” program.  Well, the program is now no more. Hit the jump to augment your daily news.

The program was controversial to say the least, as it allowed early adopters to choose their pre-order rewards, with more rewards becoming available as more copies were pre-ordered. According to a post on Deus Ex Universe, the program has been cancelled after it received “a resounding amount of negative feedback”. The full range of content available with the Augment Your Pre-Order program will now be included in every pre-order, regardless of global pre-order sales. These changes will be applied to all existing pre-orders as well, so the earliest of early adopters don’t have to worry about missing out.

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided is set to launch on February 23 2016 on PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
