It seems that online retailer Geekay Games jumped the gun slightly when it listed two different special editions of the upcoming Dark Souls III. The items have since been de-listed, but this is the Internet. Nothing ever escapes the Internet. Hit the jump to see where your disposable income may go next.
Two limited editions were listed for pre-order on the website: the Prestige Edition, and the Collector Edition. According to the promotional artwork, both editions ship with a metal case for the game, an art book, the soundtrack, a cloth map and several iron-on patches. The Collector Edition ships with a 25cm Red Knight figure in a cool pose, while the Prestige Edition comes with a 40cm Lord of Cinder figure (also in a cool pose). The prices listed in United Arab Emirates dirham are AED 499 for the Collector, and AED 1,799 for the Prestige.
Those prices are slightly worrying. Conversion to rand makes the Prestige Edition a whopping R6,983, while the Collector comes up to R1,937. For reference, the Fallout 4 Pip-Boy Edition ran for less than R1,800. Hopefully these prices are subject to a drastic change.
In the time since I started writing this, both listings have been nuked. It’s important to remember that all of this is subject to change before release. Dark Souls III is set to launch in March 2016 for PC, PS4 and Xbox One. Be sure to read about our hands-on with its beta.
