After a long, dramatic, and uncomfortable scandal involving reknown game director Hideo Kojima and Konami, we finally know what Kojima’s future plans are. Announced on the 15th of December, Kojima has now started an independant game studio, and will be developing a PlayStation exclusive franchise.
The announcement came in a very calm and professional video with Andrew House of Sony Computer Entertainment, and Kojima himself. After a brief preamble, House announced the partnership between PlayStation, and the newly formed Kojima Productions. Currently, all we know is that Kojima Productions will operate as a wholly independent studio, not a PlayStation subsidiary.
Fanboy ramblings aside, Kojima is one of the most prolific and creative minds in gaming, and it will be interesting to see what he does now that he has full creative freedom. The as yet untitled game will eventually land on the PC as well; it is a timed exclusive for PlayStation 4.
