Fans of slightly obscure turn-based RPGs with cult followings, rejoice! SEGA announced recently that Valkyria Chronicles Remastered will soon hit PS4s in the West with all the obligatory updates and improvements. Head below the break for more information, as well as a trailer.
In case you don’t know, Valkyria Chronicles first launched in 2008 for PS3. Its story sees the people of the fictional Principality of Gallia (totally not Switzerland) caught in a war between the East Europan Imperial Alliance (totally not the Axis) and the Atlantic Federation (totally not the Allies, all similarities are purely coincidental). The game combines turn-based movement with real-time aiming, as well as RPG mechanics.
According to its website, Valkyria Chronicles Remastered will update the unique, gorgeous visuals to run at 1080p and 60fps. Beyond that, Remastered will also include all previously available DLC for the core game. This includes a “hard” difficulty mode, several new missions and several challenges. I’m hoping this will pave the way for PS4 ports of Chronicles II and III, which are PSP exclusives.
Valkyria Chronicles Remastered will be launching at an unconfirmed date later this year, exclusively for PS4.
