We recently reported that a teaser trailer had appeared for a new project from Insomniac Games, promising more news soon. Well, today is “soon”, and we have some details and a proper trailer for their new game: Song of the Deep. Batten down the hatches and dive below for more.

Described by its official website as “a Metroidvania-style action-adventure game”, Song of the Deep will put players in the fins of a young woman named Merryn exploring beautiful underwater environments, trying to find her father. To do so, Merryn must build her own submarine (which can be upgraded throughout the game) and traverse the non-linear underwater world. The trailer shows off the gorgeous aesthetic, some combat, a variety of enemies and locations that look uniquely unusual, and a physics system that will likely be the core of many puzzles. The watery environments could make for some interesting levels, as many side-scrollers don’t allow such freedom of movement.

Song of the Deep will make its launch-splash at an unconfirmed date sometime in our summer of 2016 for PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
