I know that you know that we know that you know that we love us some System Shock, so of course I’m impossibly excited that not only is there a System Shock 3 incoming (now with added Warren Spector), but Night Dive Studios is also hard at work creating a full-on remake of the original game.

The team’s released a video of the remake in action, and it’s looking really fancy.

Yowzer. If you’d tried to tell Younger Dane that System Shock would look like that some day, he’d likely have slapped you without even a moment’s hesitation for telling such obvious, hurtful lies. And then Present Dane would quickly apologise to you for being so very, very wrong.

“After 20 years, we are remastering and re-imagining the original System Shock,” say Night Dive. “We will keep the new game true to the classic experience, keeping all the things you loved, while updating the user interface and graphics to use a modern day engine (Unity).”

There’s not yet a confirmed release date for the remake, but you can keep track of it via its official site.

While I’ve got your attention with all this System Shock-ery, you should read Matthew Vice’s review of System Shock: Enhanced Edition.
