Space Hulk: Deathwing is an upcoming first-person shooter set in the Warhammer 40,000 universe, and until now it’s been only a small blip on my radar. It’s now got my full attention thanks to a new trailer that shows off its level design, enemies and some other neat features. It’s after the jump.
If for some reason you can’t watch right now, the trailer shows off some heavily armoured Space Marines exploring massive derelict spacecraft (the titular Space Hulks). And by exploring, I mean shooting and slashing through hordes of
Zerg Genestealers. The action favours cooperative tactics instead of just wading into the fray with a chainsword. Also, it shows off the localised damage system, where taking too many hits can limit your effectiveness. For example: if your arm takes too much damage, you won’t be able to wield a weapon with it.
Really, the only disappointing thing about the trailer is the lack of constant heavy metal playing in the background. With a name like Space Hulk: Deathwing, you’d assume the soundtrack would choose itself.
Space Hulk: Deathwing is set to launch on PC, PS4 and Xbox One at an unannounced date.
