Mighty No. 9 has gone gold and will release next month
After numerous delays and financial difficulties, it almost seemed as if Mighty No. 9 was destined to go the way of Duke Nukem Forever: stuck in development hell for years while fans dreamed of what might have been. Fortunately, this spiritual successor to the Mega Man franchise has gone gold and will see the light of day nearly three years after its successful Kickstarter campaign.
“We have now confirmed the following release dates for Mighty No. 9: June 21st 2016 (North America & Asia) and June 24th 2016 (World Wide),” producer Keiji Inafune wrote on the game’s official site. He also apologized for the game’s multiple postponements, saying, “We understand that as a result of the various delays we have disappointed and let down our fans, but we are happy to finally be able to deliver the game to everyone who brought us this far.”
This announcement follows on the heels of a rumour that the game’s release would be pushed back to December, drawing the ire of many fans. Fortunately it’s untrue, and now we remain cautiously optimistic for the release next month.
