RTS fans rejoice! After lots of hints and speculation, Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War III is a very real thing we’ll get to play in 2017.
It’s never really been clear whether or not the game would see the light of day after Relic was gobbled up by SEGA following the collapse of THQ. I mean, we all sort of knew that we hadn’t seen the last of the Dawn of War franchise, but you can never be too sure. Luckily, any fears of the project being pushed aside can now be laid to rest. The news comes courtesy of the game’s reveal trailer, which features Orks, Space Marines, Eldar, and buckets of blood and shrapnel.
According to a press release, players should expect to be treated to elements taken from both Dawn of War and Dawn of War II, as well as more than a few hype-fuelling new features. Or as the game’s executive producer Stephen MacDonald puts it: “This is the Dawn of War that fans have been waiting for. Our biggest units ever? Check. Giant orbital lasers? Check. Base-building, epic heroes, huge battles, it’s all in there. Get ready for the biggest Dawn of War yet. For the Emperor!”
The trailer is below, and even though it doesn’t include any gameplay footage, it more than gets the job done.
Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War III will be making its way to PC sometime next year.
