More than 30,000 people have prepared to die, pledging £3,771,474 (just over R85 million) to the Dark Souls: The Board Game Kickstarter fund before the campaign ended last night. Creator SteamForged Games was originally looking to raise £50,000, which it banked in three minutes. Some people just want to watch the world burn.
“A heartfelt thank you from everybody at Steamforged Games Ltd. We’ve thoroughly enjoyed this campaign and look forward to keeping you all in the loop as the game progresses,” the company said in its latest Kickstaster update. As an added bonus, they’ve also unlocked all stretch goals up to £4 million, including the Horace the Hushed, Witch Beatrice, and Sword Master Saber summoned NPCs. Go team.
Dark Souls: The Board Game‘s extraordinary success makes it the 12th most funded thing in Kickstarter history, nipping at the lacy ankles of Koji Igarashi’s Castlevania project, Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night.
The game is expected to ship in April 2017.
